Bob Dylan once commented, “you don’t need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows,” and you didn’t need a credit risk expert to know that subprime mortgages were eventually going to cause a problem. I’m not particularly expert in that domain, and I’ve been hearing about potential problems for more than a year. Now some are pointing to quantitative investing and underwriting strategies as being a cause of the problems our economy is encountering.
